The Department of Homeland Security has established a new Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center at Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry recently unveiled the facility, called 'Louisiana Lockup' or Camp 57, which is part of the current administration's immigration enforcement initiatives. The facility is located in a renovated wing that previously housed inmates in solitary confinement until its closure in 2018 due to safety concerns.
