These groups have organized a repeal campaign through the Civil Rights Coalition, which raised approximately $136,000 in 2024 to support placing the question on the 2026 ballot. Massachusetts currently maintains one of the nation's lowest rates of gun violence, a statistic that law supporters attribute to the state's stringent firearm regulations. Zakarin expressed confidence in public support for the law, noting that residents across the commonwealth had expressed desire for stronger gun safety measures. The campaign will focus on building coalition support and educating voters about the legislation's public safety benefits ahead of the 2026 vote.
