ICE Detains Two at East LA Taco Truck During Immigration Enforcement

A taco truck in East Los Angeles has resumed operations following an incident where Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents reportedly detained an employee and a customer. According to workers at Jason's Tacos, located on Whittier Boulevard and Bradshawe Avenue, the enforcement action occurred last week and lasted approximately three minutes. Co-owner Edgar Devora stated that three additional employees were able to avoid detention during the operation.

The detained employee has been identified as Celso Robles, who reportedly has a court appearance scheduled for next week. The business owners have initiated fundraising efforts to secure legal representation for Robles. No information has been provided regarding the identity or current status of the customer who was also reportedly taken into custody during the same operation.

Following the incident, Jason's Tacos has modified its operating schedule, now serving customers from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The business maintains a second location in Whittier which has continued normal operations without disruption. The East Los Angeles location reopened this week after a temporary closure following the enforcement action.

Federal authorities have not released official details regarding the operation, including the specific circumstances that led to the enforcement action at this particular business. ICE, which operates under the Department of Homeland Security, is responsible for enforcing federal immigration laws, including identifying and apprehending individuals who may be in the country without legal authorization.
