St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga, California has successfully raised over $15,000 to eliminate $2.32 million in medical debt across seven Bay Area counties. The church partnered with nonprofit organization Undue Medical Debt, which purchases medical debt portfolios at negotiated rates, allowing each dollar donated to eliminate approximately $100 of debt. The eight-week fundraiser targeted individuals making less than four times the federal poverty limit or those whose medical debt constitutes 5% or more of their annual income.
