House Democrats have formally challenged Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Mehmet Oz regarding plans to expand prior authorization requirements to traditional Medicare. The initiative, scheduled to begin in January across six states, would incorporate artificial intelligence to assist in healthcare decision-making. Representatives Suzan DelBene of Washington and Ami Bera of California led more than a dozen House Democrats in sending a letter requesting information and urging cancellation of the pilot program.
