House Democrats Release Epstein Schedules Mentioning Musk, Thiel, Bannon

Documents show tentative plans for Musk to visit Epstein's island, which he denies

1.

House Democrats released copies of Jeffrey Epstein's daily schedules on Friday, revealing calendar entries that mentioned several prominent figures including Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Steve Bannon. One entry indicated Musk was tentatively expected to visit Epstein's private island in December 2014, stating: "Reminder: Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?)." Musk promptly denied this on social media, writing "This is false," and has previously stated he declined multiple invitations to the island.

2.

The schedules also noted a planned lunch with tech billionaire Peter Thiel in November 2017 and a scheduled breakfast with former Trump White House aide Steve Bannon in February 2019. It remains unclear whether these meetings occurred. None of these individuals has been accused of wrongdoing in relation to Epstein. Thiel previously acknowledged meeting Epstein but told The Wall Street Journal in 2023 that he was "rather naive" about Epstein's agenda.

KEY POINTS

  • Democrats release Epstein schedules
  • Musk denies planned island visit
  • Political implications for Trump noted
3.

This release represents the third batch of documents that House Democrats have obtained from Epstein's estate this year. Democratic representatives have stated they are continuing to investigate Epstein six years after his death to bring justice to his victims. Sara Guerrero, a spokesperson for Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, emphasized that the documents show Epstein's connections to powerful and wealthy individuals.

4.

The Democrats' focus on Epstein has political dimensions, as they have cited Epstein's past association with President Donald Trump. Trump has not been accused of wrongdoing related to Epstein and has stated they had a falling-out years ago. In June, Musk claimed in a since-deleted post that Trump was "in the Epstein files," while Trump stated in July that he declined an invitation to Epstein's island.

5.

Epstein died in federal custody in August 2019 after being charged with sex trafficking. He was already a convicted sex offender from a 2008 case involving an underage girl. Prosecutors alleged Epstein preyed on girls as young as 14. His compound on Little St. James in the U.S. Virgin Islands was raided by the FBI after his death, and the territorial government has filed a lawsuit alleging Epstein sexually abused women and underage girls at the location.
