Arlington Heights Village Board Trustee Carina H. Santa Maria has announced her candidacy for the Illinois State Senate in the upcoming 2026 election. Santa Maria, 40, was elected to the Arlington Heights Village Board in April 2025 and currently serves as the chief executive officer of Shelter Youth & Family Services. Her announcement follows current State Senator Mark Walker's decision not to seek reelection at the conclusion of his term.
