Ohio Universities Cut Programs to Comply with State Law SB1

The University of Akron and Kent State University have announced the elimination of multiple degree programs to comply with Ohio's Senate Bill 1, which requires public universities to cut programs averaging fewer than five degrees annually over a three-year period. The University of Akron is cutting eleven programs including Corrosion Engineering and several Theatre Arts degrees, while Kent State has identified 24 low-enrollment programs for potential elimination. Both universities have confirmed that currently enrolled students will be able to complete their degrees.
