A special election for Texas Senate District 9 is scheduled for November 4, 2025, with three candidates competing for the seat vacated by Republican Kelly Hancock, who resigned in June to become acting state comptroller. The northern Tarrant County district, which includes parts of Fort Worth and serves more than 966,000 residents, has historically voted Republican. The race features two Republican candidates, John Huffman and Leigh Wambsganss, both from Southlake, and one Democratic candidate, Taylor Rehmet from Fort Worth.
