Rosie O'Donnell Sells NYC Penthouse After Moving to Ireland Post-Election

Rosie O'Donnell has sold her New York City penthouse for $4.75 million, significantly below the $8 million she paid for it in 2017. The sale comes after O'Donnell relocated to Ireland following Donald Trump's victory in the 2024 presidential election. The 3,381-square-foot triplex in Midtown East was initially listed for $8.3 million in early 2023 before the price was reduced.

O'Donnell, 63, announced her move to Ireland in January 2025, shortly before Trump's inauguration. In social media posts, she explained that the decision was motivated by concerns for her non-binary child, Clay, stating she would consider returning to the United States when "it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights." The comedian, whose grandparents were from Ireland, also mentioned she has begun the process of obtaining Irish citizenship.

The luxury penthouse features four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a glass-enclosed room with views of the East River, a sauna, and a rooftop deck. O'Donnell purchased the property during the previous Trump administration in 2017 and decided to sell it following the 2024 election results. The significant price reduction reflects her apparent urgency to finalize the sale after her relocation.

In subsequent social media posts, O'Donnell reported improved mental health since moving overseas. She stated she has been "sleeping better without the stress and anxiety over what was happening politically in the country." O'Donnell is also parent to four other children: Parker, 29, Chelsea, 27, Blake, 25, and Vivienne, 22, who apparently did not relocate with her and her youngest child.
