Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters has announced plans to implement an 'America First' certification test for teachers relocating from states with different educational policies. According to reports, the test is being developed with input from the educational organization PragerU and will cover American history along with other topics described as addressing 'common sense' matters.

The certification requirement comes amid ongoing national discussions about educational content and approaches across different states. Walters has expressed concerns about certain educational practices in other states, particularly regarding curriculum content on gender identity and related topics. The education departments in the states mentioned have varying policies on inclusivity in education, with California requiring inclusive teaching about gender and LGBTQ topics, while Maine has taken positions on transgender athlete participation in sports.

The initiative appears to align with Oklahoma's recent efforts to attract teachers from other states. Last year, the state offered financial incentives of up to $50,000 for experienced educators willing to relocate to Oklahoma. Representatives from PragerU, which is assisting with the test development, have stated that the examination aims to ensure educational approaches align with what they consider appropriate for Oklahoma students.

Walters, who has publicly supported President Trump, indicates the test could be implemented as early as the upcoming school year.
