The White House announced Thursday that federal law enforcement officers will have an increased presence in Washington, DC for at least the next week as part of an effort to address crime in the nation's capital. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Trump directed this action to protect citizens, emphasizing there would be "no safe harbor for violent criminals in DC." The increased federal presence began at midnight following an 11pm roll call at an established command center.
