In an interview with The New York Times, Stitt emphasized his belief in federalism and states' rights, noting that Oklahomans would strongly object if Illinois deployed troops to Oklahoma. This marks the first time a Republican governor has publicly questioned the interstate deployment of National Guard troops over a governor's objections.
