A Florida immigration detention center known as 'Alligator Alcatraz' is reportedly approaching zero occupancy, according to an email from Kevin Guthrie, Executive Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management. The facility, which opened in early July 2025 at a former airfield in the Everglades, was initially presented as necessary infrastructure with 2,000 beds to support immigration enforcement efforts under the current administration.
