A long-running wild horse rehabilitation program at Colorado's Cañon City correctional facility will end in November after the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) decided not to renew its contract with the Colorado Department of Corrections. The program, which began in 1986, provided vocational training for inmates while preparing wild horses for adoption. According to officials, approximately 2,300 horses currently at the facility will be transferred to other BLM locations, with about 100 Colorado horses remaining in-state for adoption.
