A former U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to accepting bribes from a Mexico-based drug trafficking organization. Diego Bonillo, 31, was convicted on charges of conspiracy to import controlled substances and importation of controlled substances. According to the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California, Bonillo betrayed public trust by using his position to facilitate drug smuggling operations.
