Congresswoman confirms detention amid ongoing fire containment efforts

Two firefighters responding to a wildfire in Washington state were detained by U.S. Border Patrol agents and are currently being held at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center in Tacoma, according to Representative Emily Randall. The Democratic congresswoman, who represents the district where both the detention center and wildfire are located, made an unannounced visit to the facility on Saturday but was not permitted entry. Officials at the facility confirmed they were holding two individuals who had been working for companies contracted to help combat the 9,000-acre Bear Gulch fire in the Olympic National Forest.
