NC Republicans Advance Congressional Map Reshaping Districts

North Carolina Republican legislators have proposed a new congressional district map that would likely increase their party's representation from 10 to 11 seats in the U.S. House. The redistricting effort follows President Donald Trump's call for Republican-led states to redraw districts mid-decade to strengthen GOP control of Congress ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The plan specifically targets Democratic Representative Don Davis, one of North Carolina's three Black representatives, by redrawing two of the state's 14 congressional districts.
