Immigration Raid at Hyundai Plant Signals Shift in Workplace Enforcement

The Department of Homeland Security conducted what officials described as its largest single-site immigration enforcement operation at a Hyundai facility in Georgia last week. Nearly 500 workers, many South Korean nationals employed by contractors or subcontractors at the battery manufacturing plant jointly owned by Hyundai and LG Energy Solution, were detained. The administration indicated this operation represents the beginning of increased workplace enforcement actions targeting companies employing individuals without proper documentation.
