State Department to Destroy $9.7M Worth of Contraceptives for Global Aid

The U.S. State Department has decided to destroy contraceptives valued at $9.7 million that were intended for distribution to developing nations, primarily in Africa. The stockpile includes nearly 2 million injectable doses, 900,000 implantable devices, and over 2 million oral contraceptive packets. According to a State Department spokesperson, the destruction will cost an additional $167,000, with the department stating it had explored all possible options before reaching this decision.
