Supreme Court Temporarily Halts Venezuelan Deportations

The Supreme Court has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from deporting Venezuelan immigrants held at the Bluebonnet Detention Center in Texas under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. The emergency order came in response to an appeal from the American Civil Liberties Union, which argued that immigration authorities were preparing to restart removals without proper due process. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented from the majority decision.
