The House Ethics Committee has ordered Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to repay expenses related to her attendance at the 2021 Met Gala. According to the committee's July 25 report, the congresswoman improperly claimed her then-boyfriend Riley Roberts as a spouse to secure him a free $250 ticket to the event. The committee also found she had accepted nearly $3,000 in gifts including attire and accessories for the gala.
