A federal judge has ordered the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to temporarily stop sharing personal data of Medicaid enrollees with Department of Homeland Security officials. The ruling by Judge Vince Chhabria specifically prevents HHS from disclosing information of enrollees in 20 states that filed a lawsuit challenging the practice. The data sharing, which began in June, included sensitive personal information such as home addresses and Social Security numbers of Medicaid participants.
