Wisconsin's FoodShare program, which provides food assistance to nearly 700,000 state residents, is expected to end this week due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. Senate President Mary Felzkowski stated in a WISN-TV interview that state lawmakers are unlikely to allocate state funds to temporarily replace the approximately $115 million in monthly federal funding. The program is part of the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and is scheduled to cease operations after November 1.
